Dori Boneck is the proprietor of Maddy’s Organic Meals, LLC. She procures organic produce from area farmers and processes them for her certified organic frozen baby food. Dori says that her daughter is both the inspiration and official taste-tester for the business. Her products can be found at various retailers, farmer’s markets and special events.Maddy’s Organic Meals was the 1st certified organic baby food business in the Midwest. Dori produces three stages of baby food: Smooth Starters which are single ingredient recipes, Chunkier Blend which combines ingredients, and Gourmet Meals which contain protein from lentils.

Why have you chosen to produce organic?
We have chosen organic baby food because we know the nutritional benefits babies receive for their growing bodies from certified organic produce. We also wanted to support local farmers who have chosen this labor intensive method of farming because it is better for our air, land, water, and soil.

What is your favorite part of being an organic farmer?
Knowing we are providing families with delicious, clean baby food that is packed with flavor and vitamins for their growing baby. We like that we’ve made a conscious choice to put a face behind our food, to keep it personal.

What is your least favorite part?
The least favorite is probably the paperwork trail but we understand that there is a method to the madness.

What makes your products special?
The quality and taste of our certified organic baby food is superior to the more commercial organic brands. We procure our produce at the peak of harvest time and its apparent in the taste.

Where do you see you business to be in the next year? 5 years 10 years?

We would like to see that we’ve expanded our distribution channels into large local retail grocery stores. We want our food to be easily available to our clients.
