A Start-Up Turns to Saffron to Help Afghanistan Regrow
FamilyFarmed is proud to work with Rumi Spice, purveyors of sustainably produced saffron from Afghanistan.
We wish to congratulate the Rumi Spice team and especially the co-founders we’ve worked closely with, Kimberly Jung and Emily Miller. We’re so pleased that their hard work and dedication recently received national media attention!
Rumi Spice is the pilot business in FamilyFarmed’s new Incubator Without Walls (IWOW) program. Through this program, FamilyFarmed provides start-ups with assistance in marketing, branding, financing and other areas of need.
“Initially they [Rumi Spice] were helping Afghan farmers by paying a premium price for saffron and displacing opium production,” said Jim Slama, the president of FamilyFarmed. “We helped them simplify their story. Now they are an ethical luxury brand.”
