This 255-page manual was produced by FamilyFarmed.org staff, plus 11 authors and a 21-member steering committee consisting of leading farmers, retailers, distributors, academics, and NGO leaders.
The goal of Wholesale Success is to build the capacity of fruit and vegetable farmers across the nation to meet the burgeoning demand for local food. It includes comprehensive sections on issues such as Building Relationships with Buyers, Calculating Return in Investment and a greatly enhanced Food Safety section. It also includes 103 crop profiles that give specific harvesting, cooling, storage, and packing information on most of the fruits and vegetables grown across the country. FamilyFarmed.org is now working to distribute the manual to growers and farmer organizations.
